Festival Boreal

borealcarte

Hello strangers. Been tied up with getting our label onto the digital distribution thang, among other things. so the blog has been neglected.  A week friday, Sept. 19th,  is the beginning of Festival Boreal, situated by the coast of the town called Los Silos, Tenerife.  The festival came into being several years ago, born at the unveiling of a skeleton of  whale  which oversees the spot where the event now takes place.   On hand will be several local acts of various persuasions and textures, and countless activities, from the artistic, holistic, environmentally focused and the adventurous.  I’ll be doing the closing set on Saturday night, which kinda became a tradition for awhile.  The festival also returns to the coastal site, after a couple years up in the local square.

So I sign off with none other than…..’Back for another one’ by Casey Veggies Feat. Tyler, The Creator – Odd Future

Ear Con 35- Different folks stroke it different

Tonight set is comprised of random bits that are in the box for upcoming gigs.  Between Friday and next week Saturday, hay muchas opportunidades para escuchar buena musica.  Tengo tres sesiones, Txola, La Laguna este viernes, sabado a Rollercoaster Fstvl, Santa Cruz y el dia 18 de septiembre, Boreal Fstvl, Los Silos.  No hay escusa. Wash away the end of summer blues.

Got some newsness via the label behind Pavel Dovgal, Obba Supa, John Robinson & Lewis Parker,  Project Mooncircle.  They have an album, titled ‘Finest Ego’ dropping next month. Chock full  of Japanese beat makers following in the footsteps of Krush, Hide, Sak. Stepping up to the boards are  BudaMunk, a.z, Daisuke Tanabe, The Astronotes, Dj Olive Oil, FERRARI, RLP, SATO, Ogiyy, ichiro_, Eccy & Himuro Yoshiteru.

My first experience of Negativland was the album Helter Skelter, featuring ‘Christianity is Stupid’.  It’s an concept album, which I’m not gonna get into right now, however it’s a brilliant cut and paste work.  More juice on Negativland? Go to the source.

Fstvl Boreal – It’s On

Website now live, schedule complete and published.
Tons of activities for young, older, and those that are almost there: Storytelling, returning turtles back into the ocean, theater, yoga workshops, percussion workshops, batucada, recycling workshops, walking trip information, sports activities….phew, outta breath, puff, puff!

Location is the super tranquil Los Silos, surrounded by the sea and mountains, can’t beat it really.  A rare intact skeleton of a Boreal whale overlooks the site.

I’ll be doing two sets, the first being  Friday night by the swimming pool, after the round-table discussion featuring the creator of the festival, Juanjo Ramos (Birding Canarias), Bernard Habis of Elementhal Events/Eolica/Rollercoaster, and Job Ledesma (Canarias Ruido).

Main activities are the following day.  See website for further details.

It’s only 8€ for the day, ya gotta support this folks, as Job wrote somewhere recently, the days of government funding and free entrance are over, people in Tenerife, and the Canaries in general, are gonna have to get used to dipping in their pockets should they want to see bands / dj’s perform.

The Boreal team, are doing what they can with very little funds from government sources, and with so many festivals not happening this year, best to hang onto what we got and make the best of it.
