Kick (who is also part of Dream Continuum, or so I gather.)

More details on the tracklist later on.

Ear Con74 – Monitor One

Alesis Monitor One’s are what sit in front of me. It is through those that I listen and learn.

They carried the bliss and bass of Krts into my brain several times since arriving in my inbox.  If dreamscape sonics of Burial and Cosmogramma by Flying Lotus are your thing, then you have another place to lie your weary bones.  Another soother is Amenta, a Toronto-born singer, that’s dropped her luscious talents with the likes of Mau’lin, Blue Daisy, Om Unit, to name three.  Next month the label First Word present ‘Sacred Places’, five tracks of beautiful experimentation. This stuff expands the beat scene into pastures fresh.

Did i mention beats?  New isht from El-P via Adult Swim, a taster from his forthcoming album which I think will be titled ‘Cure for Cancer’.

I gotta split now, heading to Rototom Festival with Adrian Sherwood and Ghetto Priest, get a taste of the Adrian control via the opener Space Movements, classic dub moving in a fresh direction, and this was over twenty years ago.

Tune in via eFM tomorrow at 16h CET, or Tuesday at 22h GMT+1 via Sunhole.

Thanks to all singers and players.

Ear Con71 – is that real?

Apologies to the listeners in Sarajevo, I had this session ready for last Saturday’s excursion via eFM, however there was no innernet connection out Botnik way where I was for the Clandestino event there.

However, back on track for this week.

New material from guitarist Morgan Craft kicking off things, and closing, for that matter. Experimentation is where it is at. The XPRiMentashun continues with Ras G and Shafiq broadcasting from their way out respective corners, dabbling in radiophonics.

German label, Project Mooncircle bring the latest package of their Finest Ego worldwide beat-producer series, this time beatheads from the UK and Ireland stand up.  On it is Seagull Mansions’ ‘Survivor’ which, like Teebs,  was a cut that was included in Gaslamp Killers ‘no track info’ mixtape ‘Hell And The Lake Of Fire Are Waiting For YOU‘.  I’ve had that CD for at least two years slowly slowly the identities of the music used on it is coming to light.  At this rate, I know the complete tracklist in fifteen years or so.  Back to the Mooncircle compilation, it’s out next month, and besides ‘Survivor’, I’ve thrown in T-Wok. More to come from this album over the next few weeks fer sure.

Does Mark Pritchard ever sleep?  With his Afrika Hi-Tech project still rolling via Warp, see new remix from Scratch DVA which is floating out there rightaboutnow, the former Global Communications man steps up again, this time teaming up with vocalist Trim for a project via Planet Mu, Pritch & Trim, simple.  It’s very English, the samples have a ’60’s British comedy film strand to them, or at least to me, I could be way off, if so, sue me.  Planet Mu are on it hard, also firing the Machinedrum album into our faces.  Brilliant programming in their son.

Washington-based Dutchman, Martyn has completed his follow up to his ‘Great Lengths’ album, and for the new joint, Flying Lotus has signed Martyn up, so it’ll come with that Brainfeeder stamp, tough.

There you have it, tune in, if you don’t just please make sure your doing something ya like.  This edition of Ear Conditioning is ‘earable via Sunhole dot net at 11h00-12h00 weekdays until the new show next Tuesday, and for my Sarajevo crew, this Saturday.  There maybe a time change from the usual 16hoo, will check.  All the beats.

40 Winks

The label Project Mooncircle came to my attention when I thankfully received some promos of the Obba Supa stuff.  Offkey hip hop coming to ya from the left side of the brain of rapper Teknical Development and producer by Hey!Zeus

Now comes 40 Winks a project from uh, I don’t know actually, however the samples cut and pasted in the manner they are creates a wonderful  vibersphere – thats vibes and atmosphere okay. The album is called ‘It’s A Trip’, true that. Instrumental hip hop that is where it’s at.

Ear Con 35- Different folks stroke it different

Tonight set is comprised of random bits that are in the box for upcoming gigs.  Between Friday and next week Saturday, hay muchas opportunidades para escuchar buena musica.  Tengo tres sesiones, Txola, La Laguna este viernes, sabado a Rollercoaster Fstvl, Santa Cruz y el dia 18 de septiembre, Boreal Fstvl, Los Silos.  No hay escusa. Wash away the end of summer blues.

Got some newsness via the label behind Pavel Dovgal, Obba Supa, John Robinson & Lewis Parker,  Project Mooncircle.  They have an album, titled ‘Finest Ego’ dropping next month. Chock full  of Japanese beat makers following in the footsteps of Krush, Hide, Sak. Stepping up to the boards are  BudaMunk, a.z, Daisuke Tanabe, The Astronotes, Dj Olive Oil, FERRARI, RLP, SATO, Ogiyy, ichiro_, Eccy & Himuro Yoshiteru.

My first experience of Negativland was the album Helter Skelter, featuring ‘Christianity is Stupid’.  It’s an concept album, which I’m not gonna get into right now, however it’s a brilliant cut and paste work.  More juice on Negativland? Go to the source.
