Ear Con 50 – The Puppet Show

Computer fuckries have wreaked havoc upon me, put after contributing to  Mr. Jobs’ healthcare plan, the Ear Conditioning program is back on track.  I see last week Apple announced some 6Billion dollars in profits.  I paid over £1500 for this computer, two years later I have to pay €500 to get a new motherboard.  Yes, the word mother came to mind, but ‘board’ did not come after it.

Now sports,

We cover plenty ground this week, new movements from DJ/rupture’s Nettle project, proper blues from RL Burnside, alt. blues from the Blues Explosion, contributions from William Burroughs, former engineer for Ryuichi Sakamoto, Seigen Ono and his runway music for Comme de Garcons, the lord of nasty Drum and bass, Nico remixing Endemic Void, Squarepusher, Homeboy Sandman guesting with Das Racist, upcoming material from the Eglo stable featuring Mizz Beats, with the fantatistically title 2 Bit Road..it does make sense.

Ear Conditioning 50 – The Puppet Show, ‘earable tonight at Sunhole dot net at 22h00 Tenerife/London time and Friday over at eFM Student Radio Sarejevo at 18h00 CET.

Put that in your pipe….

Heavy Heavy Load

It’s a great week for some, a shit sandwich for others. With the posi-drive in hand, there is tons of new tunes – from the Ivory Coast, powerhouse crew CIAfrica, with /Rupture delving into the hard drives to select snyth-devastating coarse dense dancehall, switch hip hop beats, pro-black fist mentality reality lyrics. Bouncing while standing firm, no holding back, stabbing fuck-me bass-lines unleashed dropping mayhem, check ‘Babylon Advisory’  a perfect example.  Our Clandestino Festival crew have a stage at the Way Out West Festival in Gothenburg this weekend. /Rupture’s Nettle outfit will also be gracing the stage, so too  Ras G, Rango, Mutamassik. Is that good enough for ya?  On the other stages/tents will be the likes of xx, M.I.A. the Chems, Jay Electronica, Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek, Pavement, Mary Anne Hobbs…..yeah, you get it now,  it’s effing huge.

Mutamassik by the way has edited and produced a video for  Take the Hit from her latest album, That Which Death Cannot Destroy. Viewable here.  I don’t know what’s in the water in Tuscany where Mutamassik and her partner Morgan Craft live, maybe it has nothing to do with it, actually it has sweet eff all to do with how productive they are.  Morgan just made me aware of a round table discussion that he participated in with Matthew Shipp (Anti Pop Consortium, El-P, Springheel Jack) and Mark Lomax a Columbus, Ohio-based drummer, composer, and bandleader. In addition to leading his Trio, Quintet and Afro-Chamber Ensemble, Lomax has worked with, among others, Marlon Jordan, Ellis Marsalis Quintet, and Azar Lawrence. I haven’t finished reading all of it yet, you can start here in the meanwhile.

64meg of a King Midas Sound remix is the perfect counter to the lingering CIA rough-house with a spacious vinyl reverbed enhanced bliss zone.  CV313 handed over the files to Mr. Kevin Martin, and he in turn entered how much I don’t know into his studio mind. Roger Robinson’s Trini-‘scent vocals start the proceedings with a little discourse on what it’s like, how you know you’ve met the one. Hitomi takes over laying out the comforting arms.  Excellent use of space.

El-P’s third installment of the ‘Weareallgoingtoburninhellmegamixx‘ series hit the streets last week, in many formats.  The physical versions have an added bonus, links to download the previous two editions that were limited to 500 cds and only sold on tour.  One of the digital versions has stems of one of the beats, so you can jack and rework to your hearts content.  Skip to Passion of the Weiss for a lengthy interview with the man.

I bought the Silkie album last week, titled City Limits Vol.1, it certainly captures and re-presses that all-embracing London ting.  The opener is an epic 8 and a half minutes, he works it. This is a gorgeous album, threatening and calming. If 4Hero started out now, they would sound like Silkie.

Indigenous Resistance come back again with a Sawandi reworking of the Galdino Jesus dos Santos track that came out earlier this year.  The bass is sitting just right, and the drums criss, and they carry the terrible story of how the vocalist met the family of the murdered Galdino, and how they showed photos of his charred body, burns to over 90% of his body.  The killers, sons of the elite basically walked, after all, it was only a ‘joke’.

This week is a heavy heavy load indeed, you have to be physical fit.

Tune in via sunhole dot net tonight at 22h00GMT, otherwise you catch the repeat same place at 11h00 every weekday morning.
